Louise and Leo’s wedding at the stunning Boclair House Hotel was so much fun to capture. When they booked me to photograph their day they where a family of three and now they are a family of four and these two had made it clear how delighted they where to have their kids as part of their day. I adore kids at weddings so had already been looking forward to it. From the moment I arrived at Louises parents house for morning prep, I knew this day would be something special. As a photographer, there’s nothing quite like documenting a wedding where love and family take centre stage, and Louise and Leo’s big day was just that. With their two children, Kieran and Leah, by their side, it was a beautiful celebration of not just the couple but the family they’ve built together.
The Venue: Boclair House Hotel
Boclair House Hotel, located in Bearsden, just outside of Glasgow, is a luxurious and timeless wedding venue. Its art-deco architecture, coupled with manicured gardens, makes it a wedding photographer's dream. From its red sandstone arches this tudor gothic mansion offers opportunities to capture special moments.
A Day for Family
Louise and Leo’s children played such a big part in their wedding day, and it was a joy to see how much Kieran and Leah were included in the celebration. Their eldest, 8-year-old Kieran, absolutely adores Lego—especially Lego trucks. During the reception dinner, both Kieran and his younger sister, Leah, who’s just 1 year old, were given some Lego sets to keep them entertained, which worked a treat!
When it came time for the ceremony, the children were never far from their parents. Kieran, the ever-adoring big brother, was the official ring bearer and performed his duties with pride, while Leah wandered near Louise and Leo as they exchanged their vows, always keeping close to her mum and dad. I couldn’t help but smile as I captured these moments. Seeing the children involved so naturally added a deeper sense of intimacy to the ceremony.
One of the standout moments of the day was during the best man’s speech. It wasn’t just any speech—it was complete with a hilarious slideshow that had the entire room in fits of laughter. As I snapped away, I found myself laughing along with the guests, especially at the stories shared from Leo’s past. Louise and Leo were wiping away tears of joy, and the atmosphere was simply electric.
Speaking of energy, this wedding had plenty of it! Between the children running around exploring the venue, guests mingling, and the lively dance floor later in the evening, there was never a dull moment.
Louise and Leo: A Perfect Match
When I first met Louise and Leo, they were so down-to-earth and clearly smitten with one another. Their responses to my pre-wedding questionnaire highlighted just how excited they were for this day, not just to celebrate their love but to share it with family and friends.
One moment that stood out to me was when I asked them about what they were most looking forward to, and they both mentioned how much they wanted the day to feel like a family celebration. They weren’t just focused on the traditional aspects of a wedding—they wanted a day where their children, friends, and family could be part of their story. And they truly achieved that!
“We want our wedding to be relaxed, fun, and full of love—we want Kieran and Leah to feel part of it all.” That sentiment rang true throughout the day, and it was such an honour to photograph it.
The Evening Reception
After a beautiful day of celebrations, the evening reception kicked off with plenty of laughter and dancing. The playlist was full of tunes that got everyone onto the dance floor, from the youngest to the oldest guests. Even little Kieran couldn’t resist leaping about the dance floor.
