Loch Lomond - A Perfect Elopement

Loch Lomond wedding photographer

On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

Elopements in Scotland have a certain magic to them, don’t they? There’s something about the wild, untamed beauty of our landscapes that makes every moment feel so much more intimate and real. Loch Lomond is a place that holds so much of Scotland’s soul—its still dark waters, the rugged mountains including the famous Ben Lomond in the background, and that feeling of pure tranquillity that’s hard to find anywhere else. I am also a tad biased as I grew up here and still love close by. I am up at the loch most weeks at some point and adore it here. I even got engaged at Loch Lomond myself.

Loch Lomond is one of Scotland’s most iconic and beautiful locations, making it a perfect venue for an elopement. It’s the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain, surrounded by picturesque villages, hills, and woodlands. The loch itself has a serene, almost mystical quality to it, with the weather changing its mood from moment to moment—something that adds a dynamic touch to every photograph.

Jane & Elliot chose a secluded spot by the loch’s edge, with Ben Lomond standing tall in the background. It was a place where nature spoke in soft whispers, and the only sounds were the gentle lapping of the water against the shore and the rustling of leaves in the wind. This location was not just a backdrop; it was an integral part of their story.

The intimacy of the day allowed me to capture those fleeting moments—the soft touches, the shared smiles, and the quiet glances that spoke volumes. One of my favourite shots was of them standing hand in hand, looking out over the loch as the sun began to set. The light was perfect, casting a golden hue over the scene, and in that moment, it felt like time stood still.
