Wedding at The Byre at Inchyra

Byre at Inchyra wedding

As a wedding photographer, each wedding brings its own unique charm, each couple put their own personal stamp to their wedding day which means I always get excited on the drive to the venue. Gillian and Craig’s wedding at the picturesque Byre at Inchyra was no exception. From the rustic elegance of the venue to the heartfelt moments shared between the couple, it was a day filled with love, laughter, and a touch of Scottish magic. I thoroughly enjoy the drive up to Perthshire, all seasons it’s beautiful from the warm tones of autumn to the long summers evenings. With a plan for an outdoor ceremony in the stunning walled garden to dancing under the fairylights in the barn, it was my dream kind of wedding day to photograph.

Scottish rustic barn wedding venue

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of Perthshire, the Byre at Inchyra is a hidden gem steeped in history and rustic beauty. With its weathered stone walled garden which is a dream to say your wedding vows in, the cosy fairylights floating in the barn, and enchanting courtyard, it provided the perfect backdrop for Gillian and Craig’s special day.

A Rustic Barn Wedding Venue With Soul

The Byre at Inchyra is a lovingly restored cattle byre transformed into a warm, enchanting wedding barn. What makes it so special is that it hasn’t lost any of its original character , the stone walls, timber beams and twinkling lights create a setting that feels both cosy and grand. It’s rustic, but elegant. Historic, but modern enough to be comfortable for every guest.

For photography, this is a dream. The textures, the warm tones and the soft pockets of natural light make every moment feel intimate and romantic.

Rainy Blessings: Vows in the Barn

Despite Gillian’s dream of an outdoor ceremony, the Scottish weather had other plans. However, true to their resilient spirits, Gillian and Craig embraced the rain and took shelter in the barn adorned with twinkling fairy lights and floating candles. As they exchanged vows surrounded by their loved ones, it felt as though the raindrops were blessings from above as the barn made for such a romantic and intimate setting.

As a dog lover myself, I couldn’t help but smile when I saw Gillian and Craig’s furry companion joining them for family photos.

Just in time for their couple photoshoot, the sun came out and came out long enough for us to explore the stunning walled garden. My favourite part of being a wedding photographer is the couple photos as its when I see couple really relax with each other and the smiles dont stop as the realization that they are married sink in. We were spoilt for places to take photographs in the stunning Byre at Inchrya on their wedding day. And that golden light! This is why I love being a Byre at Inchyra wedding photographer.

The Walled Garden , A Fairytale Ceremony Space

One of my favourite places on the entire estate is the Walled Garden. It’s perfect for outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions or simply wandering for couple portraits. The soft greenery, the old stonework, and the way the light filters through the trees give it a storybook feel.

Every season brings something different , blooming florals in spring, lush greens in summer, golden leaves in autumn, and beautiful moody tones in winter.

"Her calm and confident approach helped us both just act naturally with each other, and the photographs speak for themselves: they are personal, intimate, and beautifully captured. We both agree that her presence at our wedding was one of the highlights of the day, and we are so grateful to have found her."

-Clare & Rory.

"Roma is a superstar! Her photos captured every moment of the day beautifully. She managed to get a great mix of formal family photos but also lovely natural ones. Not only was she a pleasure to work with for us, but many of our family and friends have commented on how great she was. She went above and beyond and we are so grateful to have picked her for our day."

-Darren & Ashlea.

“'Magical' is the word that springs to mind when we think of our experience with Roma and her photography skills for our wedding day. From the outset, Roma was professional, super-helpful and absolutely put us at ease and got the 'vibe' we were looking for. The final outcome is beyond anything we could have wished for.”

"Roma is incredible! Her professionalism and skill made her a joy to have around on my wedding day. She was so fun to work with and had the perfect
balance of instructing us to get the perfect photos and blending into the background to let us enjoy our day with our guests. Our guests even commented on
how great the photographer was! She shared previews the next day and the full digital album shortly after, our photos are incredible and so well edited".

-Ross & Ben elopement.

"Roma’s service was outstanding. So friendly, professional and captured our day as we remember it! The quality of her work blew us away!"

-Rihanna & Alex elopement .

"Roma was an utterly fantastic wedding photographer on our wedding day. I had multiple meetings, emails and discussions with other photographers prior
and just none seemed to be the right fit until I spoke to her. She is clearly so incredibly passionate about what she does and cares about the people she takes
pictures for. My guests said she was a delight and we were so lucky to have had her on the day. I will be forever grateful for the beautiful photos she
produced for us, thank you x"

more about me

I'm Roma, an award-nominated wedding photographer in Scotland specialising in relaxed, romantic weddings and adventurous Scottish elopements. My base in Scotland suits this style perfectly with the Outlander style scenery of Lochs and mountains right on my doorstep. For couples that want their day relaxed, full of fun and laughter.

With over 15 years of experience in the wedding industry, and the honor of capturing over 400 weddings, 80 family and baby photoshoots, I appreciate the priceless value of these moments. From the flower girls and page boys racing around during wedding prep, parents crying during the ceremonies and grandparents showing off their best moves on your dance floor, I love to get right in amongst it all. I also adore photographing intimate elopements all over Scotland, from the dramatic scenery in famous Glencoe, to vows said on the shores of calm Lochs with just your reflections and a witness for company. I have been lucky enough to shoot weddings all over the world, from the UK to as far as Thailand. The main thing to remember is it is your day and should be done your way

FAQS

How Far In Advance Should We Book?

Since I take on a limited number of weddings per year, no more than 25, I encourage couples to book as early as possible to secure their date. Most couples book 12–18 months ahead, but if your wedding is sooner, still get in touch I sometimes have space for last-minute dates.

Do You Travel Outside Glasgow?

Yes, I photograph weddings across Scotland (and beyond). Travel fees apply for longer distances, but I’ll always be clear about these upfront. I am frequently up in the highlands for weddings and also travel down to the lake district aswell.

Do You Shoot Elopements As Well As Full Weddings?

Absolutely. Elopements are some of my favourites, full of emotion, freedom and atmosphere. Plus I do love getting outdoors in amongst the stunning scenery and dodging the midges.

How Many Images Will We Receive?

For a full day, expect around 600–800 carefully edited images all in my signature romantic style, in both colour and black and white.

What Is Your Editing Style?

Happy, romantic, fun and light just as your day should be.

I don’t follow photography trends as I love to create photographs that are timeless, classic and romantic. So that in 10 years time you will still look back and love them without them looking dated.

I find the couples who book me have similar traits to me. Chilled with a good sense of humor. Who adore their families and want this love captured.

What If It Rains On Your Wedding Day?

Scotland’s weather can be unpredictable, but it always adds character. I’ll guide you to make the most of the light and conditions, rain often brings the most atmospheric images! We can have fun and go full on notebook vibes! You cant control the weather but you can control how you behave towards it on your day, instead of being sad that you didn’t get full on sunshine, embrace the fact all your guests will stay inside together and party hard!

How Long Does It Take To Receive Our Photos?

You’ll get a small preview within 48 hours, and your full gallery within 6–8 weeks.

What’s Included In Your Full-Day Coverage?

From morning prep to at least three dances into the evening (or until the dance floor gets really wild!), I am basically yours for the day.

What If We Want Video Or Extra Coverage?

There’s a package (Blue Moon Rose) that includes a highlight film. Also, you can add a second shooter, or extra hours, or special print or album options.

Can We Order Albums Or Prints?

Yes, and I encourage it. There’s nothing like seeing your story beautifully printed , something to pass down and relive for years. I hate the photos hidden on hard drives so include 15 complimentary prints in my full day packages.

Can We Book An Engagement Shoot To Be Included In Our Wedding Photography Package?

Absolutely, this is a great idea as it means you get to have a practice before the big day and instead of spending months worrying about having your photos taken, you will see how easy and relaxed the whole process is, plus it means we won’t feel like strangers by the time the wedding comes.

I specialize in natural, candid photography so nothing is too posed. Just get not touch and we can chat about what package would suit you best.

Is It Possible To Hire A Wedding Photographer In Glasgow Who Also Does Videography?

Yes, I shoot hybrid so that means I not only capture your photos but also capture snippets of video too and edit this into a highlight reel. This package is ideal for couples who hate being center stage as its only me and you won’t notice me taking video aswell.
